Safe and compliant lighting for infrastructure
On a regular timetable, V/Line schedules more than 1,997 weekly train services between Melbourne and regional centres such as Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton and Bairnsdale. Connecting Victoria’s regional centres to Melbourne involves constant infrastructure upgrades, the latest to be completed is a storage yard for regional trains north of Wyndham Vale station.
Security and safety are paramount
In an environment that operates around the clock and where security and safety are paramount, the developers of the new site required quality, uniform lighting for the stabling yards. Not only that, the fittings themselves had to be able to withstand open outdoor conditions and any possibility of vandalism. Thus, the site is illuminated predominantly by over 300 Pierlite Vandalux LED fittings. With a robust frosted polycarbonate lens, Vandalux is able to resist impact and abuse (IK10), while providing even light at CRI>80.

A lighting audit at the site after installation showed excellent, uniform results across the stabling yard and to the fence without a single dark spot in the area. A safe and compliant lighting result that, with tried and tested LED fittings, will last for years to come.
